International Convention & Expo Summit is dedicated to the advancement of research and education in tourism with an emphasis on conventions, expositions, incentives and events management. It aims to promote knowledge, interaction and exchange of ideas among educators, researchers and practitioners.
Papers (or extended abstracts) encompassing research, education, practical application, and current issues in tourism, hospitality and convention management are invited for presentation at the Summit. Manuscripts submitted to the Summit should be original contributions not sent to any other conference at the same time.
The Summit welcomes theoretical, empirical and/or practical papers involving various fields and areas to enhance the knowledge of conventions, expositions, incentives, events and their industry applications.
Topics may include, but not limited to, the following discipline fields and operation areas:
- Effective use of audio-visual materials
- Human resources issues
- Impacts of technology (e.g. electronic meetings, virtual tradeshows)
- Impacts on host communities
- Incentives
- Issues faced in keeping the industry sustainable
- Legal issues
- meeting, incenties, convention, exhibition, and events management and marketing (E.g. site selection, housing, scheduling, promotion, exhibit floor layout, booth design, and exhibitor liaising)
- Negotiation with suppliers, clients and labor unions
- Planning and development issues
- Studies relating to key industry players (e.g. conventions & visitors bureaus, MICE venues, MICE organizers)
- Submitted papers should be relevant to at least one of the conference topics, must be original and previously unpublished work, and follow academic writing standards, structure and methodoloy - APA Style.
- All contributions must be submitted online at http://unlvsingapore.com.sg/icesconf/openconf.php from 25 October 2009 onwards before the respective due dates.
- Papers must be prepared in English and free of grammatical, spelling and/or punctualtion errors. Please make sure your paper is thoroughly edited and proof read before submission.
- The paper author (or at least one of the co-authors in case of multiple authors) is required to register for the Conference with full payment of fees before 10 February 2010 in order for papers to be included in the Conference Proceedings as well as in the Conference Program. Papers submitted by authors not registered for the conference by 10 February 2010 will be removed from both Conference Proceedings and Conference Presentation schedule.
In addition to payment of full conference registration fees, all paper presenters are responsible for expenses incurred for travel and lodging accommodations.

The abstract should be in the following format:
- Include the Title, Name(s) of author(s), Affiliations, Postal and Email Addresses
- Arial, 12-point font size, double-spacing with justified alignment
- Formatted for A4 size (210mm x 297mm) paper
- Set top, bottom, left, and right margin at one inch
- Follow academic writing standards, structure and methodology - APA style
Full paper submissions will be blind-reviewed by at least two reviewers. Multiple papers are welcome.
Submissions are judged on three criteria for acceptance at the ICES 2010:
- Overall quality (review of existent body of knowledge, design of the study, results, etc.);
- Significance of the contribution to the discipline; and
- Interest to members and delegates.
Papers judged to have outstanding merit by the Refereed Paper Committee will receive a Best Paper designation in the conference programme and will be recognized at a general session for all attendees.
Conference Proceedings and Publication Opportunities
All accepted papers have the possibility of being included in the official conference proceeding’s CD-ROM, including ISBN number. The proceedings will be published in printed and/or electronic form and will be available for distribution during the conference. Each registered conference delegate will receive one free copy of the conference proceedings.
Authors of selected conference papers may have the opportunity to publish their work in the Journal of Convention & Exhibition Management after the summit in 2010.
