Generally, foreigners who do not require visas for entry and are visiting Singapore as tourists, may be given up to 30-day social visit passes upon their arrival in Singapore.

What to wear

Singapore has a warm and humid climate throughout the year with a daily average temperature range of 24 degrees Celsius to 31 degrees Celsius. Light and summer clothing made from natural fabrics like cotton is best for everyday wear. Casual dress is acceptable for most situations and occasions but some establishments may require a more formal dress code. It is always advisable to check beforehand on dress regulations, if any.

Currency

Other than the Singapore Dollar, the US, Australian and Brunei Dollars, Yen and British Pound are also accepted in most major shopping canters and big departmental stores.

Free Wireless@SG

Visitors can enjoy free wireless broadband access in Singapore by signing up for Wireless@SG, a broadband programme developed by the Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) Singapore. Operated by three local wireless operators, users can enjoy free, both in-door and outdoor seamless wireless broadband access with speeds of up to 512kbps at most public areas. To connect to the Wireless@SG wireless broadband network, a user just needs a WiFi-enabled device, such as a laptop computer or a PDA, a web browser, and a registered Wireless@SG account. Users will also be able to roam within any of Wireless@SG's coverage areas, regardless of the operators' network.
