Module 5  - Risk Management in Events and Meetings (TCA 376E)

Risk is a natural part of life and business. Crises like natural disasters, terrorism, and fire can have both an immediate and a lasting negative effect on hospitality and tourism. More common risks like actual or threatened lawsuits, boycotts and pickets, and transportation or utility interruptions can also have a deleterious effect on hospitality and tourism entities like hotels, meeting organizers, and destinations themselves. This course will address preparing for, managing, and recovering from realized risks, both major and minor. Minimizing and managing risk using tools such as trained risk management teams, contingency plans, contract language, and insurance will be discussed.
